How it Works

Earn this certification in three straightforward steps:

Step 1: Online coursework (4 to 6 hours)
Complete all lessons and activities in the online course and pass all quizzes and the final exam.

Step 2: In-person training (8 hours)
Participate in a day of in-person, hands-on training at a location near you, with a Milady-certified instructor. Please note, this training requires learners to bring their own model for a portion of the hands-on training day. Bring a friend who is willing to receive eyelash extensions!

Step 3: Post-training photo submission (3 rounds of feedback)
Post-training, submit photos of three to five eyelash sets that you complete on live models for further feedback and grading. (To qualify for the certification, you'll need three passing submissions.) After completing all requirements, you'll receive an official certificate indicating you are Milady-certified in eyelash extensions.

What is the Milady Classic Eyelash Extensions Certification?

This certification trains licensed estheticians and cosmetologists to safely and confidently perform lash extensions. It combines the convenience of online learning with comprehensive in-person training from a Milady-certified instructor.
What's included in the Milady Classic Eyelash Extensions Certification?

The certification includes:
- Access to the online lessons.
- One eight-hour day of in-person training with a Milady-certified instructor.
- Custom Milady Borboleta Eyelash Kit and mannequin head for additional practice. (Kits vary depending on which course option learners choose).
- Helpful assets: Reference materials, lash client chart, mapping cards, client consent forms, pro tips and tricks, and lash recommendation sheets for face, eye shape, and spacing.
- Milady Advanced Series Eyelashes textbook (depending on which course option learners choose).
Will the training work with all lash products?

Yes. The Milady Classic Eyelash Extensions Certification is brand-agnostic, meaning learners can use their preferred lash products.
What are the prerequisites for taking the Milady Classic Eyelash Extensions Certification?

Learners must be licensed cosmetologists or estheticians with an active, valid license.
What does the certification involve?
- Online coursework, videos, quizzes, and final exam: Topics include eye and eyelash health, safety, and infection control; client consultations; choosing the right extensions; application techniques; and tips for building an eyelash business.
- In-person training: After completing the online coursework, learners will attend a one-day, in-person training with a Milady-certified instructor at a participating beauty school in Florida, Michigan, North Carolina, or Pennsylvania.
- Post-training photo submission: Learners must provide images of three to five eyelash sets completed on live models. The Milady-certified instructor will provide feedback. To qualify for the certification, learners must have three passing submissions.
Where does the one-day, in-person training take place?

In-person training will be available at participating beauty schools in four states: Florida, Michigan, North Carolina, and Pennsylvania. Learners are responsible for all travel expenses, such as transportation, lodging (if needed), and meals.
How big will the in-person training sessions be?

We want learners to receive as much 1:1 instruction as possible during the in-person training. Class size will be capped.
How often will the in-person training be offered?

The in-person training schedule will vary from school to school and depend on the Milady-certified instructor's availability. The goal is to offer it up twice per quarter.
Do I need to be licensed in the state where the one-day, in-person training is offered?

Not necessarily. The Milady Classic Eyelash Extensions Certification is a Milady certification, not a state license. As long as you have a valid cosmetology or esthetics license and are willing to travel to a state where in-person training is available, you should be able to complete the requirements for the Milady certification.

So, for example, if you're a licensed cosmetologist in Georgia and you're willing to travel to Florida for the in-person training, you can do so. (All learners are responsible for travel expenses, such as transportation, meals, and lodging).

IMPORTANT NOTE: Because lash extensions are a newer service, state regulations might change. Learners are responsible for reviewing, understanding, and following their state laws and regulations.

How long will it take to complete the certification?

This will vary. Learners must complete the online coursework and pass the online quizzes and final exam. Generally, we anticipate most learners will complete all requirements within 4 to 8 weeks.
What is a passing grade for the online quizzes, online exam, and post-training photo submission?

Passing grades are as follows:
- Online quizzes and final exam: 70% or better.
- Feedback on post-training photo submission containing images of three to five completed lash sets on live models: Pass/fail with feedback included. To qualify for the certification, learners must have three passing submissions.
NOTE: Learners must arrive at the in-person training on time and stay for the full duration of the class to qualify for certification.
How much does the Milady Classic Eyelash Extensions Certification cost?

Currently, two options are available. The first is valued at $1400, and the second is valued at $1650. Occasionally, discounts are available, so the cost you'll pay will depend on whether a promotion is running.
What happens if I sign up for the in-person training but can't attend due to illness or another emergency?

Milady tuition is non-refundable. However, should an attendee face extenuating circumstances (e.g., personal emergency, illness, severe weather), they may reschedule their in-person date for another scheduled date.
I completed all certification requirements and passed my exam. How soon will I receive my official certificate saying I'm Milady-certified in classic eyelash extensions?

Once your final submission has been approved, you'll receive the official certification via email within 2-5 business days. (Keep in mind that delays outside of our control can occasionally occur.)
